Ms. Moll's Grade 5 At Brooks, 2011-2012
Wow! What a fun, dynamic, unforgettable class! We had so much fun. I was super lucky to have a number of students move up from 4th grade to 5th grade with me, and all of the others were just stellar too. Many years later, I still reminisce about the amazing projects we did and the thrilling learning adventures we had together. You guys were absolutely fantastic! Alex, Allie, Annika, Antonia, Arden, Bair, Becky, Brianna, Cadie, Cameron, Chandler, Chris, Conor, Connor, Echo, Fedrick, Giovanna, Kekoa, Lekha, Lia, Niahm, Sam, and Santi.

Student Work
Class Play: "Whose Planet Is It Anyway?"
Our amazing end of the year play about an alien invasion, the Greek Gods, and a massive game show to determine the fate of planet Earth. This is by far one of the most creative and expansive plays I've done (and may ever do) with students. You can relive the entire play through the slide show on this page. Awesome job students!
American Revolutionary War Simulation -Taverns
To recreate life of Revolutionary America in the classroom, students created their own taverns. In their tavern groups, students worked together to complete projects on the causes of the American Revolution, the revolutionary heroes, the important battles, and the meaning of the revolution. They competed for "Revolutionary Dollars" by producing high quality projects, demonstrating knowledge, wearing colonial attire, and using proper language and courtesy. Check out their work here!
Early American Colonization Simulation
Early American colonists endured many hardships in order to survive in what they thought of as “The New World”. In this project, students dive deep into the challenging and exciting life of a colonist. Divided into separate "colonies," teams of students face problems typical of life in 17th-century America and try to ensure the success of their settlements. The wealthiest colony at the end of the simulation wins.
Exploring the Explorers
Students worked in groups to research a famous European explorer. They wrote a mini biography, created a wall display featuring a portrait of their explorer as well as a map of the explorer's journey, and then conducted a mock interview with their explorer. Check out the cool wall displays here!
Class Play: The Final Finale
Check out student work on our fully immersive, multimedia class play! Students developed the story line, created characters, painted set design, built a miniature 3-D set, composed music, created a background slideshow, managed lighting, and produced programs.

Future World
Check out our first group project --Future World-- where students envisioned what life would be like in the year 3000. Each group of 4-5 students designed their future city, created a large map using modular design, recorded a musical anthem for their cities in Mr. Allen's recording studio, wrote a creative pieces describing various places in their city, and presented a mini-advertisement selling their city to potential visitors.
