Exploring the Explorers
Project Description:
Welcome to the Age of Exploration! During the 15th-17th centuries, ambitious sailors sought spices, riches, knowledge, and more to enhance the greatness of their country. On one hand, they were “discoverers”, finding new worlds filled with wonders. On the other hand, they were “conquerors” and “invaders”, pillaging the magnificent civilizations they encountered. Students researched these famous/notorious characters to discover the impact of the explorers for themselves!
Students worked in cooperative groups to create a biography and presentation about a European explorer of their choice. Here are the four parts of this project.
Part 1. Research a European explorer using a variety of resources.
Part 2. Write a mini-biography about the explorer.
Part 3. Create a wall display that includes a portrait of the explore and map of the explorer’s journey.
Part 4. Create a presentation about the explorer in the form of an interview.
