American Revolution Taverns
During the era of the American Revolution, taverns played a key role in spreading the ideas of liberty. Taverns such as The Green Dragon in Boston were regular meeting places for the Sons of Liberty --Samual Adams, Paul Revere, John Hancock, and others-- where they first spread the message of "no taxation without representation" to the citizens of Boston.
To recreate life of Revolutionary America in the classroom, students have created their own taverns. In their tavern groups, students work together to complete projects on the causes of the revolution, the revolutionary heroes, the important battles, and the meaning of the revolution. They compete for "Revolutionary Dollars" by producing high quality projects, demonstrating knowledge, wearing colonial attire, and using proper language and courtesy. Click on a tavern to learn more about that group's accomplishments!
