Exploring the Explorers
Welcome to the Age of Exploration! During the 15th-17th centuries, ambitious sailors sought spices, riches, and knowledge to enhance the greatness of their country. On one hand, they were “discoverers”, finding new worlds filled with wonders. On the other hand, they were “conquerors” and “invaders”, pillaging the magnificent civilizations they encountered. Students researched these famous/notorious characters to discover the impact of the explorers for themselves!
Students wrote biographies, created a map of their explorer's route, illustrated highlights of the journey, and conducted an interview acting as their explorer. Here is the full Exploring the Explorers Project Requirements.
Explorers covered: Vasco da Gama, Ferdinand Magellan, Vasco Nunez de Balboa, Juan Ponce de Leon, and John Cabot.
