Math: We're learning about decimal multiplication this week. Students will learn how to estimate first in order to place the decimal point. They will also learn how to solve word problems that involve multiplying money and drawing diagrams. We will also learn how to multiply decimals that are very small (with many zeros) by counting place values. Writing: Informational Writing. This week we will be working on two research reports --one historical, one scientific. Students will gather facts about the Inca Empire and write about why it was such a great civilization. Students will also research a science or technology question they have, such as, "How do touch screens work?" or "Why does the sky turn colors when the sun sets?" Reading: We have two more chapters of Wonder to finish this week. Students will be discussing and writing about their responses to the story. We will also continue reading about European explorers in A History of Us by Joy Hakim. We'll learn how to skim text to find specific information. We'll also learn how to explain the complex relationships between the explorers and the natives they encountered. Friday night is the Viva Variety Show! Hope to see you there! Comments are closed.
