Hello Families! We had a great first day of school! We started the day off with a Morning Meeting where we greeted each other, did a fun activity, shared about ourselves, and reviewed our morning message and goals for the day. We’ll be having a welcoming Morning Meeting every day to get us ready for school and learning. Today we began the important work of establishing shared expectations for how we coexist safely and respectfully within the classroom and within the school. We’ll be doing a lot of work with this during the first few weeks of school! Other things we did: We took a school tour. We explored some basic materials in the classroom. We played some games. In the middle of the day, we enjoyed lunch, recess, a read-aloud, and then Art with Ms. Hurley. We learned some graphic design techniques to use when decorating our name tags and other artsy things. Finally, we capped off our fabulous day with a closing circle to reflect on all that we learned so far and what we are looking forward to tomorrow and beyond. For the first two weeks of school, we will be focusing mostly on building our classroom community. I will introduce academics gradually. Much more fun to come! Our specialist schedule is as follows: Monday: P.E. with Ms. Atwood. Wear sneakers! Tuesday: P.E. again with Ms. Atwood. Wear sneakers! Wednesday: Art with Ms. Hurley. Thursday: Music with Ms. Raucci. Friday: Library with Ms. Becker. Our lunch time is 11:15am-11:35am. Recess is at 11:35am-12:00pm. I plan to have a snack and movement break around 9:50am, and will allow students a "listening snack" roughly around 1:30pm if they need additional nourishment. As the nurse emailed previously, our classroom is a peanut free classroom, even in the cafeteria, so please do not pack any food with any peanut ingredients. You can reach me via email at [email protected]. You can also call the school at 781-942-9166 between 3:00-3:30pm and ask to speak with me. If you haven't had a chance to check out my class website, please do at www.mskimball.org. As the school year progresses, I’ll have lots of helpful info shared there. This notice came home in our Home/School Folder. Please check it every day for notices from me or the school. Sometimes your child might bring home class work to show you. Please take the work out, ask your child about it, and then keep it for yourself. I will check the folder each morning for any notices or forms coming from home. If you have any essential information for me to know, please email me before 8:10am or send a note in the Home/School Folder. Thank you so much for trusting me with your child! I am so happy they are in my class! We are going to have a wonderful year! Sincerely, Meri Kimball
