Hi Families, It's mid-August and I hope you are enjoying the remainder of your summer! I'm excited to hear all about your summer adventures from your child once school starts. We are going to have a great school year! My summer has been enjoyable. Despite the ridiculous amount of rain we got, I've enjoyed many summer pleasures. My family stayed a night in Gloucester and enjoyed the creek side of Good Harbor. We spent a week in Vermont and rode the gondolas up to the top of Killington. We went camping (for the first time) for a night in New Hampshire. We went canoeing. We had a bunch of playdates. And we splashed around pool-side on those few hot sunny days. I also spent a good amount of time working in my classroom --cleaning, organizing, and setting up displays. I had a big project this summer putting together our new Barrows Decodable Text Library, bought with a grant I wrote. I'm very excited to get those books in kids' hands! This year, Reading Public Schools is implementing a new literacy curriculum in grades K-2. Grades 3-5 implemented the curriculum last year. It is called ARC Core and is considered a knowledge-building curriculum. Stay tuned for more information. Parents! I have some homework for you. I find it very helpful for have some information about your child prior to the start of school or within the first week. When you are able, please fill out the Student Information Questionnaire (linked below) so that I can learn some background information about your child and be better prepared to support them. Here is the link: Student Information Questionnaire Thank you! Please reach out with any questions or comments! Feel free to email me. I'm thrilled to be your child's 2nd grade teacher. Thank you for entrusting me with your child's education.
